About The OSCE/NMC Exam.
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is part of the NMC Test of Competence. This exam assesses the clinical skills and competencies required to deliver safe patient care within the UK healthcare system. It simulates real clinical environments and patient scenarios nurses may encounter in practice. Candidates must demonstrate the safe and effective application of nursing knowledge, communication skills and professional judgement.
The exam consists of :
APIE Stations: Candidates assess a patient’s condition, plan appropriate care, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes.
Skills Stations: Candidates perform clinical procedures selected from a range of nursing competencies.
Evidence-Based Practice: Candidates demonstrate understanding of evidence-based care and current best practice.
Professional Behaviour: Candidates demonstrate safe, ethical and professional nursing practice aligned with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
During my training programmes candidates have ample opportunity to practise ALL OSCE stations before sitting the exam.

Webinar 1: Virtual live training with an expert trainer, basics of OSCE & detailed understanding of skills stations. What to expect and how to start preparing for your exam.
Webinar 2: Virtual live OSCE training with an expert trainer, detailed understanding of assessment documentation: NEWS 2 , GCS and the Neurological charts. MUST score for the APIE station and PHQ mental assessment chart.
Day 1: Classroom OSCE training with OSCE skills demos and practice of assessing a patient with examples based on the exam’s scenarios. Protocols including hand hygiene, PPE and safety checks. Introduction to ABCDE & Assessing Skills. Introduction to the Planning Section,how to write care plans and tools for writing care plans.
Day 2: Classroom OSCE training on the Planning Section. Providing feedback and discussions on candidates care plans written from their assessment stations. Demo & practice in Implementation stations, including reading the medication charts, common medications and practical medication administration.
Day 3: Clinical skills stations with demo and practice of: Intramuscular Injection, Subcutaneous Injection, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Intravenous flush and VIP monitoring,Fine-bore NG Tube insertion, Wound Assessment & Aseptic Non-touch Technique.
Day 4: Clinical skills stations continue with Mid-stream Urine Analysis, Catheter Sample of Urine, Removal of Catheter, PEAK flow assessment and recording, Administration of an Inhaler, Subcutaneous and Intramuscular injections.
Day 5: Classroom OSCE training with a mock in all APIE and skills stations.
Webinar 3: Virtual live training on the Evidence Based Practice and Professional Values station .
