PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) care refers to the maintenance and care required for a tube placed through the abdominal wall into the stomach. Importantly, proper care is essential to prevent infection, promote healing, and ensure the tube remains patent and functional. Our PEG care courses teach important skills for administering food, water and medication via these tubes as well as this proper care of the tubes.

What Course Is Needed ?
About the Training
PEG Care and Feeding Courses.
Our PEG care and Feeding courses raises your attendee’s awareness of the care of PEG tubes. Moreover, it covers methods of insertion, types of tubes, their uses in feeding and medication administration, as well as the care required and problem-solving skills needed. This comprehensive approach ensures your staff’s familiarity with the types, uses, and care of PEG tubes. Consequently, it ultimately ensures your staff become competent practitioners.
Importantly, our course requires 6 hrs for competencies to be undertaken, allowing participants plenty of opportunity for involvement in practical demonstrations, thereby enabling them to consolidate their new skills and knowledge. Additionally, we can bespoke these sessions to your requirements, depending on your staff’s learning needs.
This course is run regularly as an open course at our training venue in Morden. South London. Making it suitable for smaller groups or individuals.
Or can be run at your own venue.

PEG Awareness/Refresher Courses.
Two shorter 3 -4 hourly courses are available. One for participants who have completed a previous course in the last 2 years or a variation for organisations or individuals who do not require the simulated competencies. Importantly whatever your needs all the courses will provide ample opportunities for involvement in practical demonstrations.
Furthermore for any practicals, we will supply a Nutricia Freeflo feeding pumps and all associated equipment. Nevertheless, for training on specific machines, you will need to provide your own for the duration of the course.
This course can be run at your own venue or at our site in Morden, South London.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, participants will demonstrate an improved awareness of PEG tubes and their care. Moreover, they will gain the confidence to effectively care for clients with a PEG tube, including tasks such as cleaning the tube and site, advancing and rotating the tubes, and handling different types of tubes, and additionally using feeding pumps.
Furthermore, the course includes assessed practicals in medication management, which will serve as proof of competencies. However, it is essential for your staff to undergo medication competencies before applying these skills in their practice
How Many Can Attend Training?
We will conduct this PEG course with a maximum of 12 participants, thereby effectively restricting the class size and therefore ensuring the active involvement of all attendees in the practical aspects of the course.

Course Duration
We offer 3 versions of this PEG Care training course
3-4 hours course-A half day refresher
3-4 hour course -A half day with practical demonstration (No competencies required)
6-hour course-Full day with simulated competencies.
Certification
Participants will receive certificates of attendance that are valid for a duration of two years. Moreover, individuals who undergo tracheostomy competency training will receive a record detailing the simulated competencies they have successfully completed.
