Catheter Care Awareness Course
This half day catheter care training course is specifically designed for care staff or relatives who are responsible for the well-being of individuals with existing indwelling or convene catheters. The course aims to enhance delegates’ understanding of catheter care, encompassing various types of catheters, associated risks, and the crucial role and responsibilities participants have in mitigating those risks.
Emphasizing the importance of catheter care, this course solely focuses on providing comprehensive training on the maintenance and management of catheters. For training specifically on catheter insertion, we recommend exploring our dedicated catheterisation training course.

Catheterisation Course
This catheterisation training course specifically targets and is suitable for Nurses, Senior Carers, and other Health Care Practitioners actively involved in catheterisation procedures for both male and female clients. The comprehensive training program aims to familiarize delegates with all aspects of catheterisation, including the procedures, reasons for implementation, potential complications, and the essential care, treatment, and management of clients with catheters.
Moreover, the course offers hands-on practical sessions in male, female, and suprapubic catheterisation procedures. With participants having abundant opportunities to actively participate in these practical exercises, benefiting from the availability of multiple manikins to enhance their learning experience.
Importantly, our catheter courses are delivered by practising and experienced high-dependency nurses with many years of teaching and complex care nursing experience. Consequently, this approach ensures that we provide you with the right experienced practitioner to teach this course.

A shorter refresher course is available for participants who have completed a previous course in the last 2 years.
This course can be run at your own venue or at our site in Morden, South London for a group of your staff on a date to suit your organisation.
Learning Outcomes- (dependent on course taken)
On completion, participants will have an improved awareness of, and ability to care for and to change any male, female and suprapubic catheters confidently.
Participants will understand how to reduce the risk of infections and perform the catheterisation procedure using an aseptic technique.
Participants will learn how to solve problems with catheters and catheterisation procedures and when to seek medical advice.
How Many Can Attend Training?
We will conduct the catheterisation course with a maximum of 12 participants, thereby effectively restricting the class size and therefore ensuring the active involvement of all attendees in the practical aspects of the course.

All of our expert clinical tutors are Nurses with an abundance of clinical and complex care experience and knowledge – so you’ll be in great hands!
Course Duration
Versions we offer for this course.
3-hour course- The Catheter Care Awareness course lasts approximately 3 hours.
6-hour course -The Catheterisation Course lasts 6 hrs to enable competencies to be completed.
4-hour course- A refresher catheterisation course is avaliable for participants who have completed a previous course in the last 2 years .
Certification
Participants will receive certificates of attendance that are valid for a duration of two years. Moreover, individuals who undergo catheterisation competency training will receive a record detailing the simulated competencies they have successfully completed.

Competencies
The Catheter Care awareness course includes practical demonstrations and participation ONLY
An upgrade can be made to include simulated competencies a 4 hour course is required for this extension .
The Catheterisation course includes simulated competencies for male,female and suprapubic catheterisation procedures.
A competency tool is provided to allow further assessment with participants patients in their own clinical environment.
